The Âé¶¹´«Ã½ (Âé¶¹´«Ã½) is governed by the Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Executive Board, which consists of 36 Member States and provides intergovernmental support, direction and supervision of activities.

Âé¶¹´«Ã½ is headed by an Executive Director, who is appointed jointly by the UN Secretary-General and the Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. The Executive Director is appointed for fixed five-year terms and is responsible for the administration of Âé¶¹´«Ã½ as well as the implementation of its programmes, projects and other activities. Since 1 June 2026, the post has been held by Carl Skau on an acting basis.

Âé¶¹´«Ã½ also has one Deputy Executive Director and three Assistant Executive Directors.

Carl Skau is the Acting Executive Director of the Âé¶¹´«Ã½ (Âé¶¹´«Ã½), appointed by United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to serve as interim head of Âé¶¹´«Ã½ until the designation of its next Executive Director.
