The study evaluated the acceptability of locally blended fortified glutinous sticky rice among schoolchildren, parents, caregivers, teachers and cooks in two provinces of Lao PDR. Using triangle tests, taste tests and interviews, the research found that 66.3 percent of participants rated the fortified sticky rice as ¡°Good¡± or ¡°Very Good,¡± indicating broad acceptability, although ratings were slightly lower than for non-fortified rice. Sensory differences, particularly in texture and aroma, were noted but did not significantly affect overall acceptance. Awareness of fortified sticky rice was initially low. However, willingness to purchase and use it was high, especially if priced affordably. Most participants recognized the nutritional benefits of fortification and supported the inclusion of fortified sticky rice in school-meal programmes, as well as its integration into their diets to improve nutritional status.
